"Community Radios" Project: Soundproofing works for studios in the Adamaoua, the Centre, the South, and the West Regions

Four Buildings, One Transformation

In Mvengue, in the South, the community fully transformed an old administrative building made available for the radio: a strikingly large, well-kept building that now adds to the town's beauty, just by the sub-divisional office. In Bafia, in the Centre, it is the old town hall that gave up its walls. In Belel, in Adamawa, a villa that once housed workers on the Chad-Cameroon pipeline was handed over to the community by the Council. In Bamendou, in the West, an old warehouse got a new lease on life, complete with a poured concrete slab, an added floor of offices, and tiled flooring. Four buildings, four different stories; yet, inside, the same painstaking work in the studio and technical booth: a frame of treated wood, expanded polyurethane foam, two layers of plywood, one of them perforated to break up echo, a PVC carpet underfoot, a double-glazed window, and a padded door built to close without letting through so much as a breath of air. Everywhere, these studios also come with a multimedia room, a newsroom, offices, and restrooms.
